Isaiah Leaves Seattle Grace
filed under: Ausiello at TVGuide, Burke, Isaiah Washington, show news 5 talk backsHere's the shocking story from TVGuide.com's Michael Ausiello:
Multiple sources are telling me that Isaiah Washington will not be returning to Grey's Anatomy next season. An ABC Studios spokesperson confirms that the actor's contract option has not been picked up, but declined further comment.Personally, I think this is what's best for the show. Tension should be gone (or, at least, significantly less) on the set, it opens up a ton more storylines (but...what will BangsAnatomy.com do now?), and this isn't the first time Isaiah's caused a scandal. So I'm sticking by Shonda on this. What do you think? Comment below.
One insider, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the situation, speculated that the decision was likely due only in part to the T.R. Knight homophobic slur scandal and the subsequent fallout. "There was a pattern of problematic behavior going back before he used the F-word," says my spy. "I imagine [his dismissal] was the result of all of that."
Washington's rep, Howard Bragman, confirmed the news, adding that his client was informed by Grey's executive producer Shonda Rhimes earlier today that he was not being invited back to the show. In a statement, Washington, referencing the iconic line from Network, said, "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore." (He's kidding... I think.)
Plot-wise, it won't be difficult to explain Washington's absence. In last month's season finale, Burke left Cristina at the altar and moved out of their apartment.

Every people should be given a chance. After all Isaiah Washington did something to fix his attitudes. And besides he said his sorry. People makes mistakes. Nobody is perfect. Everyone should have a chance of being forgiven especially when they try to make efforts to correct a mistake.

Personally, I think it's good. Isaiah never really did much for the show. Burke was a good character, but not the best developed in my opinion, and what with the whole scandal Isaiah caused...I just think it's for the better. Not that I'm saying I hate him, just don't think he was really right for the show.

I'm sort of relieved, but in a way I will miss his character on the show, even though I didn't like him much. I'm really curious to see how Christina will deal with it all...
