Support the Strike

0 talk backs

OK, usually I don't post these kinds of things here, but, seriously. This is a huge part of what's going on, and it's going to effect Grey's Anatomy in the end, no matter what.
Support the strike. It's frustrating, depressing, and doesn't make a lot of sense, but it's something that should be supported.
Here's what's happening: With technology these days, you can watch episodes of your favorite television shows online or download them off of iTunes, or even buy them on DVD. Thing is, our writers (the writers we love so much, like Shonda, Krista, Allan, etc) don't get any money from that. Like, at all. Like, it's as if it goes into this huge pot and gets given to these big head honchos and our writers never see it. It's not a case of the "rich wanting to get richer." Writers don't make that much. They make about 30 grand a year, and they deserve (and could stand to have) their piece of the pie from those downloads, DVDs, and online episodes (which, yes, they do get money from. See those ads? The networks get money from them.) So, support the strike. Because it's a good cause. It's not great timing, and it's not a great thing that is happening, but it's a really great cause. So, hold off on buying that "Season Three: Seriously Extended" set or downloading the latest episode off iTunes or even catching up online, and support the writers. Because they could use our support and they deserve it.
[PS - we're not saying stop watching new episodes when they air. Definitley keep watching on TV. They do get paid for that, and we do have to support our shows that way.]

On a side note, the SAG (Screen Actors Guild) contract is up in June (which is when all TV shows begin to shoot new seasons of our favorite TV shows), and rumors are starting to form that they may too begin to strike on the same exact issues which would, yet again, disrupt our TV schedule. So, support the cause. It's a good cause. And they need our support.

What next?
