About the Changes That are to Come...

0 talk backs

The writer's strike didn't just affect Hollywood. No, the effect of the writers setting their pens down for four months trickled all the way down...all...the...way...down, even to my site. This four month period, in which our site "enjoyed" scarce new updates all the way around the network, gave not only Shonda a chance to rethink the direction she is taking Grey's Anatomy, but me time to rethink The Seriously Grey Area. And here's what I had concluded: TSGA is the web's best Grey's Anatomy fansite out there. It is the biggest, gives the most information, and gives the best user interaction. But I knew that it could be better. Anything can always be better, and TSGA is no different. It's no secret that the network of sites (TSGA, Grey Gossip, The Red Report, and The Docks) is flawed. TSGA is very cluttered, and it is hard to read the main content in the episodes section. And none of the sites are connected enough. So, after many, many trials and many, many bad designs (some involved yellow and flowery-like borders) I came up with an all-new design for TSGA. But I didn't think that would be enough. I wanted to do more. So, this summer, TSGA is getting an all-new name. We're changing from The Seriously Grey Area to the All the Shades of Grey network. There's going to be a new location for all of the sites, and there's even going to be two or three new sub-sites. All of the sites, in fact (with the exception of The Docks), are getting new names. The (current) Red Report will be getting a major facelift. I'm adding a site where I'm going to hire people to review television shows, movies, and DVDs. And this new network will have an all-new look. The main site, which will be called "Explore All the Shades of Grey" will be much easier to navigate around, to read, and to enjoy. You have no idea just had good it is. The new home page is going to be the home page for Grey's fans. Like, the one you could make your browser's home page, with site updates and network news, info on the next episode, latest updates from Grey Gossip and The Red Report, exclusives and so much more.
I'm already in the middle of working on this process. And it's going to take a while. I've got 45 more episodes to transfer over, then all of the other sub-pages (plus a few new ones) from the current site. I've got to design this awesome new home page, finish setting up the new Red Report and this new reviewing site (as well as get reviewers). So there's still a ton of work to be done, but my current goal is by the end of May, right after the season finale of Grey's. That way we can launch an all-new season of Grey's with an all-new site.
But I promise you, the new network is going to be worth the wait. It is going to be amazing. Really freaking amazing. And you all (hopefully) will love it.
Please, post your thoughts on this, along with suggestions for the new network, in the talk back section below. I would really love to hear your thoughts! And be sure to stay tuned for more updates.
