MerDer Together Forever, and KH Updates

2 talk backs

After that scintillating interview with Entertainment Weekly, Shonda Rhimes has now spoken to TV Guide, detailing that Meredith and Derek will be together - for good - by the end of this season. She won't divulge whether or not they'll get married or be engaged, but she does say that no one will be wearing "eveningwear" in the season finale. Apparently, they've got more information coming up in their next issue, so we'll be here to report it to you.
Also, after hearing the debunked rumors about Katie Heigl leaving Grey's, Kristin at E! Online has dug up some information, saying that Katherine did, in fact, ask to be let go from Grey's Anatomy, but the producers won't let her. However, beyond this season, it isn't sure what will happen. In my personal opinion, I don't think the show will be the same if Katie leaves (and I really hope she doesn't). And how many times has an actor left an incredibly successful television show to pursue movies...only to regret it? Thoughts? Post below!
[UPDATE: Apparently, Kristin at E! was wrong, and Ausiello was right about the rumors being wrong, as Katie's rep has gone to OK! Magazine and denied everything. Thanks to those of you who posted that in the talk back section!]

About those Katherine Heigl Rumors...

0 talk backs

Apparently they aren't true. Read on for the details from Mr. Michael Ausiello at TVGuide.com:

Maybe it's the show's impending post-strike return. Maybe it's the success of that mediocre movie with the dresses. Or maybe it's that recent National Enquirer story. Whatever the reason, rumors that Katherine Heigl's Grey's days are numbered have staged a Hillary-type resurgence this week. But does the prattle have any basis in reality? A well-placed Seattle Grace insider, who, it should be noted, has never steered me wrong before, insists that Heigl remains "under contract" and adds that there are "no plans or discussions" for her to exit the series. End of story. At least until the end of her next contract cycle. Of course, Heigl wanting to leave Grey's and actually leaving Grey's are two very different things. That's not to suggest she wants to leave. Just that the two things are different. I want to be very clear about that. All this talk about Heigl not leaving Grey's has me wondering: Could the show survive without Izzie? Gizzie, yes. But Izzie? Thoughts below please.

Congratulations, Katie!

Ignoring the fact that Grey's Anatomy was pretty much snubbed at the Golden Globes today (it was nominated for Best Drama, however. Yay!), we'd like to congratulate Katherine Heigl for her nomination as Best Supporting Actress! Keep up the amazing work as Izzie!

Katherine Heigl an Entertainer of the Year!

0 talk backs

Each year Entertainment Weekly names the year’s top entertainers. This year’s list includes the most popular, the most buzzed about, the class clowns, the prodigies, the 8 to watch in ’08, the valedictorians, and EW.com readers’ pick. This year's Entertainers of the Year are:
  • Taking the title of this year’s Entertainers of the Year is not an individual, but a visionary – J.K. Rowling.
  • Matt Damon, Carrie Underwood, Johnny Depp, Kanye West, and Katherine Heigl are crowned the most popular for the sole reason that they’ve been able to win over both the masses and the critics – a huge feat.
  • Gerard Butler, Amy Winehouse, Tyler Perry, and Mad Men constitute the people who really set tongues wagging at the watercooler.
  • Odds are the comedy that had you rolling in the aisles – or off your couches - was brought to audiences by Tina Fey, Judd Apatow and his gang (Seth Rogen, Leslie Mann, Jonah Hill, Paul Rudd).
  • With a combined age of 75 years, Zac Efron, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, and Shia LaBeouf are the four fresh faces that are leading an explosive youth movement in music, movies, and TV.
  • The Sopranos, Angelina Jolie, Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, the cable queens (Glenn Close, Mary-Louise Parker, Kyra Sedgwick, Holly Hunter), and George Clooney constitute the straight “A” crowd that gets their grades for a reason.

RUMOR: Is Katherine Getting Fired?

0 talk backs

OK, so, this is from Star magazine, so I don't believe it one bit, but who knows? Sometimes the tabloids can be right. However, click here to check out the magazine scan from our affiliate SpoilerTV and read the article stating how KH's bosses were quite upset with her after the contract negociations and are apparently going to try and work her out of the show.

But, like I said, this is from Star. Take it with a grain - no, less than a grain - of salt.

More Unnerving Grey's Rumors (Plus, Grey's Spin-Off News)

0 talk backs

So, if you've checked out Grey's Gossip lately, you've probably seen some pretty terrible rumors. The first one broke a few days ago, claiming that the cast is furious with Kate Walsh for getting her own show - especially Ellen Pompeo. Now, nothing much else has been said on this rumor as of yet, but most fans think it's pretty much just that - a rumor. I mean, really, why would EP be upset? She's already the star of her own show!
Onto the next one. This one has been resolved already, but, just to let you know. This rumor started earlier this week, and it was stating that Katherine Heigl was upset about how she wasn't getting paid as much as Sandra Oh or Isaiah Washington, and was in talks to drop out of her contract. Today, however, ABC Television Studios (fka Touchstone Televsion) released a press release, brought to you here by our good 'friend' Kristin at E! Online:

Katherine is an integral part of Grey's Anatomy and its success. Fortunately, we have a long-term contract [six more years] to ensure she'll be with the show for several years to come. In recognition of her tremendous talent and value to the show, we recently approached Katherine with an offer to raise her compensation significantly above the terms of her current contract. We were surprised to see this gesture reported negatively in the press, and want to reassure fans that she will continue as Izzie Stevens.
So there you have it!

Also, here's some other Grey's news for you about the spin-off. The episode that will serve as the pilot for the as-of-yet untitled spin-off, My Favorite Mistake, will be a two-hour episode that will serve as this season's 22nd and 23rd episodes (and not the 19th, as earlier indication said), making it the final episode to air before the Season 3 Finale. And don't worry - if Addison's Anatomy falls through, or gets cancelled, Addison will be flown right back to Seattle Grace and rejoin the docs of Grey's Anatomy.
